Aged Price Discounts allows the price of a general merchandise item to be automatically discounted a certain percentage every X number of days.
NOTE: This feature is generally referred to as "Price Slasher", however, it's official name is Aged Price Discounts.
Configuration
Before you can use this tool, you will first need to configure the discount schedule. From the Bravo Dashboard, select System Configuration:
Click on the tab labeled Estimator and then navigate to Aged Discounts:
When first activated the defaults are 0% discount and a length of 0 days meaning nothing will be discounted automatically.
Discounting is done by general merchandise category. Within this tab the Percent Discount (0 to 100) and Period Length in days (0 to 365) can be set for each category.
If either the percent discount or the period length is 0, then the Aged Price Discounts will be disabled for that category.
If the Aged Discounts tab is not visible, please contact a member of the Bravo Support Team at 888-407-6287 ext 3.
Items priced will not be included in Aged Price Discounts by default, but can be manually set to be included (see the next section for instructions on how to do this). Within Bravo, the price will be automatically adjusted on the correct date so that when an item is added to a transaction for sale, the correct price will appear without having to manually discount it.
NOTE: If the Miscellaneous Manufactured Good is turned ON for Aged Discounts, any new item created using Purchase General Merchandise will have the checkbox for Aged Discounts turned ON. This is due to the item first starting out as a Miscellaneous Manufactured Good and only changes the Category once the item is put through the estimator.
Using the Feature
To enable or disable Aged Price Discounts for a certain item, search for the item in the Inventory
Locate the item. Next, click on the Edit button and then the Item Detail button (both found in the left hand pane of the Inventory screen).
In the Item Detail popup, a new checkbox is displayed towards the bottom that reads “Aged Discounts (X% every Y days from DATE)".
Uncheck/check this checkbox to disable/enable Aged Price Discounts for this item and click Ok.
Once on the Inventory screen click on the Accept button to add the label to the Print Tags queue.
Note: If you don’t see the Aged Price Discount checkbox, check if the item’s category has a discount set up in System Configuration > Estimator Tab > Aged Discounts.
Labels
When using Aged Price Discounts, a new type of price tag will print. The new label includes the company logo (or name if no logo exists), tag description, location, serial number (if applicable), gun line number (for firearms), cost code, price, discount schedule, item number, and barcode.
The system will discount the item for four periods automatically. The percentage used for discounts is compounded, meaning that the percent discount is always applied on the newest price.
In the above example, the starting price is $349.99 and the category is configured to discount 25% each period. Therefore:
- The first discounted price will be $349.00 ($262 – 25%*$349.99).
- The next discounted price will be $250.00 ($197 – 25%*$262).
- The third discounted price will be $200.00 ($148 – 20%*$197).
- The final discounted price will be $160 ($111 – 20%*$148)
Note: Prices are always rounded to the nearest dollar when using Aged Price Discounts.
The price of the item will remain at the final discounted price until an employee either re-prices that item or prints a new tag. When reprinting an aged discount tag after the last discount period has passed, the system will print a new tag with four new dates and four new discounted prices. The starting price on the new label will be the last discounted price from the previous label. From the example above, the new price will be $160.00 and discounts will be applied to that price.
The new tags will print on special labels using a third Zebra printer that should be named “SpecialLabels”. This printer will hold Zebra labels (Part No: 10010042) with dimensions of 2.250”width by 3.000” length.
