CAPSS Police Export Setup and Configuration
Learn how to configure the CAPSS Police Export in Bravo to meet local reporting requirements. This article covers how to install the plugin, adjust required settings, and ensure your store is properly configured for compliance.
This article will over over Bravo support of CAPSS reporting using a Plug-in.
Instructions
- Download the plug-in, Police Export: California CAPSS file from the Bravo Plug-Ins webpage.
- Proceed with the Bravo Plug-in installation and restart Bravo.
- From the Dashboard, select System Configuration -> Configuration tab > POLICE EXPORT CONFIG.
- Change the Primary Export's Type to CAPSS to complete the store configuration for CAPSS.
NOTE: All previous dates must be exported before switching to CAPSS Export Type. If exporting transactions from previous dates with the CAPSS plug-in, ensure records for required images (customer signature/thumbprint) are already available.
Require Signature and Fingerprint Image Capture
For all transactions reported to CAPSS, you will need to capture customer signatures and fingerprints.
- Follow the directions in the article, Customer Image Requirements to configure Bravo to require image capture for customer signature and fingerprint.
- Bravo can be set to require fingerprint verification for Redemption to verify the customer's identity.
- If the customer has no fingers at all or has an injury that prevents from capturing fingerprints, you can mark them with "No Fingers" on their profile.
- This will bypass the Fingerprint Image requirement.
- If you are not seeing this option, make sure that your Primary Police Export Configuration is set to CAPSS.

Supported Hardware
Bravo supports Topaz and UareU Digital Persona fingerprint devices for CAPSS image exports. Tested devices include:

- UareU Digital Persona 5100 (USB fingerprint module)
For more information, read the article on required hardware, California Required Hardware.

Customer Required Fields: ID Issue Date
- There is the option to collect the Issue Date for Customer IDs. This is required for California CAPSS reporting, but can be used by any store if required or desired.

- The ID Issue Date will be displayed and required only if the first or second id field is displayed.
- Enabling the Id Issue Date but not having any requirements for the First or Second ID will have no effect.
- The issue date will be added to the customer view here:

- You can mark a customer Non-Binary under the Sex tab in the customer's profile if necessary. If you are not seeing this option, make sure that your Primary Police Export Configuration is set to CAPSS.
