Create and Configure Buckets
Learn how to create and manage Bucket SKUs in Bravo for grouping similar items under a single SKU.
Last Updated: 4/17/2025
Bucket SKUs are category-based and consist of similar items sold at the same price. Bucket numbers are uniform across the company, meaning the same description, number, and price apply to all stores. This article will guide you through the steps.
Instructions
To use Buckets, new SKU numbers must be created in System Configuration.
- Select System Configuration from the Bravo Dashboard
- Select the Company (top of the tree) and select the Bucket Tab.

- Click Edit, then click Create Bucket to add a new Bucket.
- This will open the Create Bucket dialog

- Select the Category for your SKU
- Enter a 4 digit code SKU Number
When creating a Bucket, the number is user-assigned, not auto-generated. SKU numbers differ from other formats in Bravo and consist of 4 digits. The inventory number and barcode share the same selected number.
- Enter the Description for the items that will go into this particular bucket.
- Retail Each represents the MSRP of the average item in your bucket.
- Price Each is the store's selling price.
- Variable Pricing, when clicked, will allow multiple price points within the same transaction for the same SKU code.
- For example: CDs have a SKU of 1001 with Variable Pricing checked. The standard price point is $2, however there are some double discs that sell for $4.
- Customer buys 6 standard CDs and 3 double CD sets.
- Enter code 1001 in the Transaction screen, with a quantity of 6 for the standard CDs. They sell at the standard $2 each.
- Enter code 1001 again for the double CD sets. When Variable Pricing is enabled, instead of adding to the previous quantity, a second line item will be created on the transaction. This time, enter quantity 3 and change the price each to $4.
- Tax Group allows the assignment of different tax brackets to the SKU. If the SKU type needs to be Non-Taxable, for example, now this can be done in the SKU itself. To do this, click on the Tax Group pull down menu and change the Tax Group to NON TAXABLE. *available January 2025 Release
- UPC Codes can be scanned (up to five per Bucket) to redirect to the Bravo SKU number. This can be used for items that you may purchase in bulk from a vendor, such as Batteries. The UPC for the pack of Batteries can be scanned at the time of sale and it will redirect to the Bucket.
- To add an image, click on the
. This will bring you to the Google Image Search for the item in your Bucket.
Bravo does not allow firearm categories to be used for Buckets with the exception of ammunition.
- Bucket numbers are company-wide; the same description, number, and price apply to all stores.
- Clicking Save creates the Bucket(s) for all stores, and edits will update them company-wide.
- While Bucket configuration is global, counts and total costs are tracked at the store level, reflecting each store's inventory.
A Bucket can only be disabled if the quantity is currently zero at all stores.

Printing Price Tags and Bucket Pricing Cards
- Price tags for Buckets are optional. You can place Out of Pawn items directly in a Bucket without printing individual tags.
- We recommend printing Bucket pricing cards for each POS workstation. A report with all Bucket numbers can be printed.
- Use the Print Buckets button in the Bucket tab of System Configuration.
- This will print a card that has each SKU number, Description, Bar Code, and Image.

- This sheet can be laminated for each POS register.
- Pricing cards help sales associates scan the Bucket and enter quantities easily.
- To print price tags, use the Print Tags button in the left panel on the Inventory screen.

- The Print Tags window will open asking for the Tag Type and Quantity to print.

- This will print the quantity of tags desired.

- This same method can be used during purchasing or also when splitting out SKUs to print price tags.
UPC Codes that Redirect to Buckets
- You can now scan a manufacturer's UPC barcode to access a Bucket in Point of Sale, with the ability to redirect up to 5 UPC codes to one Bucket.
- This feature applies to products with original UPC barcodes. After linking a UPC to a Bucket, you can use it in smart search or anywhere a SKU is typically required.
- For example, if you have white and blue ear buds with different UPC codes but the same price, you can enter both UPCs to retrieve the same SKU.
Example
- To set up a UPC code for your SKU, locate an existing Bucket in the Bucket configuration tab.
- Edit the Bucket and scan the UPC from the retail packaging into one of the 5 boxes at the bottom of the edit screen (see below).

- Scan the UPC code from the original packaging in smart search to access your bucket in the POS. Continue scanning to adjust the quantity or use the arrow to change the amount.
