E4473 - Manual Form Entry
This article explains how to use the Manual Form Entry option in Bravo's E4473 process, allowing employees to complete the form on behalf of customers when necessary
Last Updated: 4/7/2025
E4473 provides a solution for customers unable or unwilling to complete the form online. By selecting “Manual Form Entry,” they can avoid online submission. A blank 4473 can be printed for manual input, and stores can still track the status of these hand-entered forms like digital submissions.
A security exception occurs when completing an E4473 with "Manual Form Entry" selected.
- Only trusted managers and employees should approve these.
- No exception is raised if "Manual Form Entry" is chosen at the start of the E4473 process.

Instructions
Before using “Manual Form Entry” for a 4473, understand why online section B is skipped and provide a reason when prompted.
- Even though section B is bypassed, keep Bravo updated.
- Document any unique details of the E4473 with “Manual Form Entry” on both the physical form and in Bravo's Notes section.
- This ensures clarity for future internal or ATF audits.
Once E4473 is set to Manual Form Entry for section B, the “Notes” button stays yellow during the transaction.
- The reason for manual entry is shown in the Notes and Attachments window.
- If there are notes, the Notes button turns yellow.
- The “Manual Form Entry Reason” is not editable.
Manual Form Entry process flow
- On the Start screen, select “Manual Form Entry.”
- You must specify a “Manual Form Entry Reason,” which cannot be changed later.
- Click “Manual Form Entry,” enter the reason, and click “Ok” to proceed.
Print the 4473 form
The 4473 can be printed from the start screen by choosing “Print blank 4473,” which includes store and firearm information.
- Additionally, you can print from the review screen using the “Print blank 4473” button or by selecting “Review E4473” and printing from the report viewer.
Section B - Questionnaire
After recording the manual entry reason, you will start the Manual Form Entry by indicating whether section B is accepted or denied.
- Choose either the Accept or Deny buttons on the Manual Form Entry screen.
Background check
If the questionnaire is acceptable, the next step is the background check. This involves processing the check and updating results on the physical form and in Bravo, which will function like forms that didn't bypass Section B.
To learn more about the background check process, read the article, E4473 NICS Processing.
Uploading the 4473 form - Digital Storage Only
- Once the NICS or CCW has passed, the associate will be prompted to upload the 4473 that was hand filled out.
*Available in April 2025 If a Manual 4473 was completed for a firearm Sale or Redemption and the form was uploaded to Bravo, the uploaded form will show when selecting View E4473 in the Report Preview screen.
Manager Exception
All manual entry forms require a manager approval to release the firearms and complete the hold transaction.
