E4473 Recertification Signature
This article explains how to complete the E4473 recertification signature process in Bravo, ensuring compliance with ATF requirements for firearm transactions.
E4473 recertification signature is captured online in the same way the customer originally filled out section B of the E4473 form. Recertification is only required if the transfer of the firearm(s) takes place on a different day from the date that the transferee/buyer signed Section B. New signature must be captured upon the release of the firearm(s) to confirm the responses in Section B are still true, correct, and complete. Cancelled or denied 4473s do not require a recertification signature. Firearm transactions that are later refunded do not require a recertification signature.

Recertify sub-status:
E4473 will let you know when the transfer of a firearm will require a recertification. Notice just below the Transfer status there is a sub-status of "Recertify". This is letting you know that a recertification signature will be required before the firearm can be transferred to the customer. Clicking "Next" from the "E4473 NICS Processing" screen with a "Transfer" sub status of "Recertify" will load the "Second Customer Signature" screen.
E4473 Second Customer Signature screen:
In order to capture the customer's signature again for recertification, the customer needs the URL for their 4473 on E4473. This is sent in the same way as it was when the E4473 started. Clicking on the "Send Link View QR Code" button or "Next" will give you options to send the URL to the customer.
Send Link view QR Code window:
This allows you to send the link for this specific E4473 to the customer's phone via SMS messaging, or you can print a QR code to the receipts printer for the customer to scan. QR code can also be scanned from the workstation screen.
View E4473:
Clicking this button will open a viewer with all six pages of the E4473. This button is seen on all screens and only has the information that has been saved before clicking the “View E4473” button.
Notes:
The Notes button is seen on every E4473 screen. Clicking this button opens the Notes window with two boxes. The left side box “4473 Notes” is where you enter notes that you wish to be seen on the 4473. The right-side box “Store Notes” are internal notes for the store to reference and are not seen on the 4473. Once something is typed in the notes, the “Notes” button will become yellow to remind you to look into the notes.
Save and Close:
This button is on all E4473 screens and it does what it says. Saves the current changes and closes the E4473, then lands you on the dashboard so you can work on another customer.
Bypass Customer Signature:
If there are problems getting the customer to open the E4473 URL or the customer refuses to use any digital equipment to complete their E4473, you can select the button "Bypass Customer Signature". Selecting this button will allow you to skip the recertification signature, but will require a manager exception to be approved when saving the transaction to release the firearm(s).
Cancel E4473:
If problems are now found with the information on the E4473 and you want to start over with a new E4473, but do not need to refund the transaction. Selecting "Cancel E4473" will cancel the current E4473 and return you to the start screen where you can start over. From the start screen you can also choose to refund if needed.
Refresh:
Now that the customer has logged into E4473 and started reviewing their previous answers to then sign to recertify the answers have not changed. Selecting the "Refresh" button will check with E4473 to see if the customer has signed. Alternatively, if you need to free up this workstation, you can just select "Save and Close", then return to this transaction once the customer informs you they have signed.
Review Signature screen:
Once the signature has been received and you either click refresh or pull up the transaction from Pending Transactions, you will see the E4473 Review signature screen. This screen will show the first customer signature with the new recertification signature below it. This screen also includes an address comparison intended to show if the customer changed their address between the start of the 4473 and the transfer of the firearm.
Accept:
If the signatures match and the addresses match click the Accept button. This will close the review screen and build the transaction so you can release the firearms.
Resubmit:
If the signatures do not match you can click on the Resubmit button. This will close the review screen and load the E4473 Second Customer Signature screen. From here, the customer can re-try the previously sent URL, you could re-send the URL, or you could ask the customer to find the E4473 in their My E4473s section of E4473.com.
Deny:
If the signatures do not match or you have any reason to not release the firearms. Click on the Deny button to deny the release of the firearm(s) and refund the hold transaction.
