Estimator Configuration and Set up
Learn how to configure and set up the Estimator in Bravo, including defining required fields, enabling condition questions, and customizing tabs for loan and buy transactions.
The Estimator is a powerful tool in Bravo. Proper settings ensure consistent values for Loans, Buys for General Merchandise and Jewelry.
Customize Estimator values in "System Configuration". Follow the instructions below to adjust these settings.
Instructions
- Start by selecting System Configuration from the Bravo Dashboard:
- Next, select the Estimator tab.

- Click the Edit button to enable adjustments.
Units
- Set your weight and measurement units
Diamonds and Stones
- Determine the Pawn and Buy values for diamonds and other gemstones.
- Metal market prices are given per troy ounce.
- There are 20 pennyweights (dwt) per troy ounce.
- There are 31.1 grams (abbreviated "g") per troy ounce.
To get your value per pennyweight, Bravo will divide the market price by 20. To get your value per gram, Bravo will divide the market price by 31.1.
For example:
- If the value of a troy ounce of 24K gold is 1300
- Take the value per ounce ($1300.00) and divide by 20 to get the value per dwt
- 1300/20 = $65.00 per dwt
- Take the value per ounce ($1300.00) and divide by 31.1 to get the value per g.
- 1300/31.1 = $41.80 per g
- Take the value per ounce ($1300.00) and divide by 20 to get the value per dwt
The Diamonds section is is used to calculate values for white diamonds. Other colored diamonds would be valued as stones.
- Set the values for diamonds and other stones by adjusting the Pawn % of Value and Buy % of Value fields. This will adjust the dollar value that the Jewelry Estimator returns based on cut, color, clarity and carat selections.
- You can also adjust the Retail % of Value field to adjust the retail mark-up, as well as the Price % of Value field to adjust pricing for Diamonds and Stones.
Metals Tab
This is where you will go to configure the metal values returned in the Jewelry Estimator.
- Current Market Values reflect the values for the last market trade. These update 4 times a day: 1200, 1500, 1800, 2100 all GMT
- Click the Set Values button to open and check the Automatic Update Daily - Metals checkbox to enable automatic updates of precious metal values.
- The Last Updated date indicates the last time the store's values were aligned to the market rate.
Note. If there is a large gap in time between the "Last Updated" date and the "Current Market Values Last Trade" date, it may be time to reset the values to be in alignment with the current trade. This decision is left with the store owners.

1. The first section shows the values that you can adjust.
- Price = the price markup per gram or pennyweight.
- Pawn = the % of market value returned during a pawn transaction (per unit of measure)
- Buy = the % of market value returned during a buy transaction (per unit of measure)
2. The second section shows how the current values of the store reflect against the last trade values of the current market.
To adjust these values:
- Enter the percentage of the market value that you typically offer to customers for Pawns and Buys and then click OK.
If you want to keep your store values always aligned with the most recent market values:
- Check the Automatic Update Daily checkbox at the top of the dialog.
The values for Pawn and Buy (as well as Market and Price) can also be adjusted one at a time. You can make these adjustments on the main page of the Metals tab.
- Click the Edit button to open the fields, then click on the value you want to change.
Notice that Lines are read-only when precious metal values are auto-calculated as a percentage of the spot price. To modify this, uncheck the box in the Set Values dialog.
You can adjust these values for Pawn and Buy transactions for precious metals (Gold, Platinum, Silver, Palladium) and others (Titanium, Tungsten, Stainless, and Copper).

The values on this chart are per unit (pennyweight or gram). Enter your set price for Pawn or Buy, and Bravo will use it to calculate offers on jewelry and scrap metals.
Categories Tab
These are the values for General Merchandise in the Estimator.

- These are the percentages calculations of the best price that give the dollar values the store will see in the Estimator for General Merchandise categories.
- These are top level categories only. All items under these categories will have the same percentage returned.
- Click EDIT button to adjust the percentage and price.
- Click on the value you want to change.
These percentages will reflect in the estimator on General Merchandise items in New or Like New condition. The pawn value will be X% of the Best Price as long as the condition rating remains new or like new. If the condition of the item is less than this, the estimator will take that into account and will reduce the Pawn or Buy estimate accordingly.
- Once values are adjusted, click Save and then click Done to go back to the dashboard.
Note. You can test the new values by running items through the estimator and verifying that you are seeing values that are aligned with your store's expectations. If you need to make adjustments, go back through the configuration set up.
