Firearm Hold Sales - Pay At Pickup

Learn how to use Bravo’s Pay at Pickup feature for Firearm Hold Sales, enabling delayed payment until after background check approval.

Stores configured for E4473 now have the ability to collect payment for firearm sales after the customer's E4473 has been approved.

To enable this functionality, go to System Configuration, select the Configuration tab, expand the Firearms section, and change the Firearm Sale Payment Option from Pay Up Front to Pay At Pickup.

With this configuration enabled, the amount due for all new firearm Hold Sale transactions will be $0.00, and the final sale amount for those hold sales will be collected on the Sale Pickup transaction. Any hold sales previously paid up front will still cost $0.00 at pickup, since the customer paid for the firearm(s) prior to processing of their E4473.

Hold Sale and negotiating the Selling Price

When configured for Pay At Pickup, the Hold Sale transaction line item will show $0.00 due at the time of the hold.

Selling Price will be indicated on the Hold Sale transaction line, and it will be printed on the receipt. These indicators are shown to ensure that you and the customer are aware of the selling price before the customer begins the E4473 process.

Selling Price by default will be set to the Price of the item. Select Edit to change the Selling Price.

Although the Selling Price can be edited during Sale Pickup, it is advised to agree on the Selling Price with the customer during the Hold Sale. The Selling Price indicated during the Hold Sale will be subject to manager approval exceptions if it is below cost or below the configured maximum discount percentage.

Firearm Fee options, if enabled for the store, are still available to the Hold Sale transaction, since the customer will still be paying up front for the firearm processing service. If Protection Plans are enabled for the store, instead of adding a Protection Plan during the Hold Sale, you will be able to add a Protection Plan during Sale Pickup.

Sale Pickup and final sale price

For firearm sales where the customer did not pay for the firearm(s) up front, the Selling Price from the hold sale will be displayed in the Amount for the Sale Pickup transaction line. Select Edit if needed to adjust the Selling Price. The Selling Price will be subject to manager approval exceptions if it is edited on the Sale Pickup and it is below cost or below the configured maximum discount percentage.

If Protection Plans are enabled for the store, the option to add a Protection Plan will be available on the Sale Pickup transaction line.

Hold Sale to an FFL customer

Sales to FFL customers are paid up front, because the item is being immediately released to the customer. If you select Hold Items on the FFL Processing screen, the sale will become a Hold Sale, and it will be paid at pickup. This includes third party transactions where the primary customer is a non-FFL customer and the third party is an FFL customer.

Web Fulfillment with a Firearm

Web fulfillment with a firearm will always be processed using the Pay Up Front payment method. The customer paid for the firearm via the web sale, so the sale price cannot be changed during fulfillment. This rule applies both to in-store pickups, where the fulfillment will be made via a Hold Sale transaction, and to fulfillments where the order is shipped to an FFL via a third party transaction.
