Instructions

Enter in a Tax Exempt Certificate

This method is used if the customer has an official Tax Exempt Certificate number. The Tax Exempt Certificate can be placed in the Customer's Business Tab of their profile.

  • To enter in the Tax Exempt Certificate #, first select a customer.
  • Click Edit to open the customer profile and then click on Edit Customer on the top right.
  • Select the Business Tab on the lower left side and add in the number in the Tax Exempt Certificate# box.
  • Click Save on the top right.
  • Next, in the Transactions Screen, select if the sale is Tax Exempt by checking the Tax Exempt box in the lower left corner.

Make the item Non-Taxable

Note: For SKU items, first "Remove it from SKU".

If the customer does not have a Tax Exempt Certificate, but the item itself is going to be Non-Taxable, the type of Tax can be changed on the item itself. To do this follow these steps;

  • Go into Inventory and pull up the item.
  • From there click on Edit followed by Item Detail on the lower left hand corner.
  • In the new window change the Tax Group to be NON TAXABLE.
  • This item will not incur tax for any purchase, regardless of the customer tax-exempt status.

Mark the customer as Tax Exempt - Other

This is a feature can only be turned on by Bravo support. Please call support if you are not sure this setting is on or if you don't see the option when looking for it. (888) 407-6287 x3

Once the setting is activated, on the customer profile in the Business Tab there will be a checkbox for Tax Exempt - Other.

  • Click Edit Customer on the top right and then check the box and click Save on the top right.
  • This enables the same Tax Exempt box seen on the Transactions screen, same as when adding an official Tax Exempt Certificate.
  • This box must be selected in order for the transaction to be tax exempt.
