How to reconcile your Missing Tag sales

Learn how to identify and reconcile missing tag sales in Bravo using reports and item research tools.

You've done a sale that you couldn't find the tag of the item for. What do you do now?

 

First, you have to make sure and find what Missing Tag item was and what it was sold for. If you have the receipt you already have all of this information. Bravo assigns the Missing Tag sale an item number for easy tracking.

Best practices when doing a Missing Tag sale would be to put the Serial Number or any identifying details in the notes of the item when making the sale.

 

If you do not have the receipt, you can search in the Inventory section. From the dashboard select Inventory.

 

Then you will navigate to Ad Hoc Reporting.

 

Once here, you will need to select Add New Criteria and from the list the most important criteria to select is Source. This section goes in alphabetical order, so it will be near the bottom.

 

Once this criteria gets added, the answer we are looking for is MISSING TAG.

 

Now that you have that component, add any other information you can remember about the sale. Around how much did it sell for? What was the approximate date of the sale? Was there a customer profile involved? When all is said and done you might have an Ad Hoc that looks like this:

 

Now hit OK, and from the search you hopefully have found the item you wanted.

Make sure to write down the item number of the Missing Tag item, it can come in handy if you need to leave your project to take care of a customer.

 

So now that I know what the tag description of my item is and how much it sold for, I need to find the item that closest resembles this one in Inventory, so that I may write it off. So we are going to start another Ad Hoc report to find a BOSE OVEREAR HEADPHONE. You may not want to get too specific in the Ad Hoc, otherwise you might not find anything. So I'm going to do a simple search for what is in my active inventory and in the category of headphones and start there.

 

Now from this list I can see that there are 21 headphones matching that search.

 

If there are too many on your page to look at, you can narrow it down by adding the Manufacturer and Model columns and removing everything that doesn't match. To do this, right click on the Column Headers at the top of the page.

 

Once the Column Chooser pops up, scroll until you can add the Manufacturer and Model columns. You can do this by either clicking on the box to the left of the column name, or by dragging and dropping the column name exactly where you want it.

 

Once you have both the manufacturer and model where you want, you can filter out the obvious incorrect ones by hovering over the column and selecting the filter icon.

 

Now I'm going to click on only BOSE

 

Now my list is much more manageable. I can now add Price to the Columns to get an even better understanding of which item that was potentially sold. From this list I see an item priced very near what the Missing Tag item was sold for.

 

Now what we need to do is write off this item. To do this make sure the item is highlighted. Then click on Write Off item on the right hand side of the screen. Or you can right click on the item itself and choose Write Off Item

 

Once you click on Write Off Item, the Shrink Item screen will pop up. On this screen you will need to click on the Reason drop down. In here, you will select the ITEM SOLD MINUS TAG reason.

 

You have now successfully accounting for the Missing Tag sale that was done! The accounting will not directly match up to the Missing Tag sale that was done, but the cost of this item that was Written Off will be credited toward all Missing Tag sales, so if only 1 missing tag sale was done, you now have the item that was sold and a Cost to associate with it.
