Installing the Star TSP 100 Printer

Learn how to install and configure the Star TSP100 receipt printer for use with Bravo, including driver setup and test print instructions.

Step by Step installation of the Star TSP 100 Printer

 

  1. You will begin by going to the following URL and download the FuturePRNT Lite driver software.
  2. Extract the contents of the zip file to the Bravo Printer Settings folder on your C:\ drive. (e.g. C:\Bravo Printer Settings)
  3. Run the "AUTORUN.EXE" from the files you extracted.
  4. When the TSP100 FuturePRNT software opens, click the "INSTALLATION" button. When prompted at the installation agreement, click "I ACCEPT".
  5. The software installation will then run. Install the package with the default settings. You will not have to change anything, so just click next and then finish to install the program.
  6. Now you can set up the physical printer.
IF YOU HAVE THE STAR TSP100 LAN ETHERNET BASED RECEIPT PRINTER THEN CONTINUE WITH THESE DIRECTIONS. IF YOU ARE RUNNING THE USB VERSION OF THE STAR TSP100 THE SKIP DOWN TO THE USB INSTALLATION PORTION OF THIS DOCUMENT.

 

Installing the Star TSP 100 LAN Ethernet Printer

If you have not yet done so, install the Star TSP software from the steps above.

    1. After you have installed the Star TSP software on your workstation you will need to run the "Ethernet Setup Utility".
    2. Click the "Start" button in Windows and navigate to the "STARMICRONICS" folder. Find the "Ethernet Setup Utility", right click on it and select "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR".
      • If this is the first time you are installing a Star network printer then a Windows firewall message will open. This message will say: “Windows Firewall has blocked some features of this program.” On this same window check all the check boxes and click "Allow Access" at the bottom of the window. This will allow the .exe to communicate with domain networks, private networks, and public networks. Select all three and click "Allow Access".
    3. The TSP100LAN Ethernet Setup window will now appear. Click the button that says “Search LAN for TSP100LAN”. The program will then search your local area network for all Star TSP100 LAN printers.
    4. Once the printer/s have been found then click on the printer and click the "ADD PRINTER QUEUE" button.
Note: that if you would like to assign a static IP Address to the printer you can click the Change TCP/IP Settings button and select the USE a fixed IP Address radial button.
You can also do this by using the IP Address that the printer currently has and look that IP Address up using a web browser. Once there you will need to go to change the network, to do this you will need to log in to the website.

    • If you are using the newest driver, clicking on the configuration button will open the config option page in your web browser. Go into the network settings and change it to have a static IP address.
  1. When you click the "ADD PRINTER QUEUE" button, another window will open. Change the QUEUE NAME to “Receipts” and click complete.
  2. You have now successfully installed the Star TSP 100LAN receipt printer for use with Bravo.

ADDITIONAL STEPS FOR CASH DRAWERS

  1. If you would like to have your receipt printer control the opening of your cash drawer follow these steps.
    • Navigate to "Devices and Printers" in the "Control Panel".
    • Right click on your star tsp printer which should be named Receipts; and select "PRINTER PROPERTIES"
  2. Click on the "Device Settings" tab.
    • Change the Peripheral Unit Type from "BUZZER" to "CASH DRAWER"
    • Change the Peripheral Unit 1 from "NO USE" to "DOCUMENT TOP"
    • Connect the Star TSP 100 printer to the cash drawer using the CD-101A cable from APG.
This process if only compatible with APG cash drawers that have the CD-101A connection type. (Vasario VBS320-BL1616, Series 100 T320-BL1616, and the Series 4000 JD320-BL1816 cash drawers are compatible)

Installing the Star TSP 100 USB Printer

  1. You will begin by going to the following URL and download the FuturePRNT or Lite driver software.
    1. Select the "TSP100LAN" from the printer model and then select your operating system. You will then you will be able to select the "FuturePRNT V5.5 Lite" download.
    2. Extract the contents of the zip file to a local folder on your C: // drive.
    3. Run the "AUTORUN.EXE" from the files you extracted.
    4. When the "TSP100 FuturePRNT" software opens, click the "INSTALLATION" button. When prompted at the installation agreement, click "I ACCEPT"
    5. The software installation will then run. Install the package with the default settings. You will not have to change anything, so just click "Next" and then "Finish" to install the program.

Now you can set up the physical printer.

    1. Plug the power and USB cables into the printer and the computer.
    2. Since you have already run the "TSP100 FuturePRNT" software then the drivers and software would have already been installed. So when you plug the printers USB cable into your computer the Printer should automatically install.
      • If not, then run the "Configuration TSP100 Utility" that was installed on your computer.
      • When the configuration utility opens, it will detect your USB printer and prompt you to "Add a New Printer"
      • Click "OK" and the printer will automatically get installed.
    3. Now that the printer is installed, navigate to "Devices and Printers" inside the "Control Panel"
    4. Find the "Star TSP100 Cutter (TSP143)" in the list. Right click on it and select "Printer Properties"
    5. The Star TSP100 Properties window will now open. At the top of the "General Tab" change the name from “Star TSP100 Cutter (TSP143)” to “Receipts”.
    6. Click "Apply" and "OK" and your printer is now setup correctly.

ADDITIONAL STEPS FOR CASH DRAWERS

  1. If you would like to have your receipt printer control the opening of your cash drawer follow these steps.
    • Navigate to "Devices and Printers" in the "Control Panel"
    • Right click on your Star tsp printer which should be named "Receipts"
    • select "PRINTER PROPERTIES"
  2. Click on the "Device Settings" tab.
    • Change the Peripheral Unit Type from "BUZZER" to "CASH DRAWER"
    • Change the Peripheral Unit 1 from "NO USE" to "DOCUMENT TOP"
    • Connect the Star TSP 100 printer to the cash drawer using the CD-101A cable from APG.
