IRS 8300 Prompt for Social Security Number

Learn how Bravo prompts for a Social Security Number to meet IRS 8300 cash transaction reporting requirements.

Speak with a Bravo support agent to enable prompting for IRS Form 8300 customer information.

An IRS Form 8300 must be filed for a customer whenever:

  • More than $10,000.00 in cash is received from the customer in a single transaction.
  • More than $10,000.00 in cash is received from the customer in two or more transactions within a 24-hour period
  • More than $10,000.00 in cash is received from the customer in any number of related transactions within a 12-month period

When one or more of these conditions are met and the store is configured to prompt for IRS Form 8300 customer information, a dialog will appear to prompt you to collect the customer's Social Security Number, which is needed on the IRS Form 8300. This information will not be saved in Bravo, it is just a prompt to remind you that it will need to be collected. A report will print at this time showing the related payments which sum together to exceed this $10,000.00 threshold.
