Most Common Issues
Always use a new cleaning pen on the print-head, an old pen carries contaminants from its previous uses that may damage the print-head. When you load new media, you can also clean the print-head.
Instructions
Do the following to clean the print head:
- Rub the cleaning pen across the dark area of the print-head. Clean from middle to the outside. This will move adhesive transferred from the edges of media to the print-head.
- Wait one minute before closing the printer.
Here is an example of the correct way to load a roll of labels into the Zebra TLP 2824 PLUS:

In rare cases, a Zebra label printer may require a factory reset due to corrupted firmware. It's advisable to consult Zebra support first, as most issues aren't firmware-related and a reset may not help. Be cautious, as improper commands could damage your printer. This process is only applicable on a Windows machine.
If your Zebra TLP 2824 PLUS is feeding out additional labels, the label printer may need to be calibrated. Do the following to Calibrate the printer
- Open the Control Panel in Windows and select Devices and Printers.
- Enter the Properties for the Zebra printer.
- Select the Printer tab.
- Press the little plus sign next to Advanced.
- lick once on Tools then press the Tools button.
- In the field labelled "Direct Command for Printer", enter "^default" then press Send.
- The ^ character is entered by pressing Shift and 6. This re-flashes the printer to default settings.
- Next, enter "XA" in the command dialog then press Send.
- This re-calibrates the printer.
- Most users will be using our Bravo labels. Enter "Q152,028" then press Send to tell the printer the label's height and gap (for 2.25" X 1.25" labels).
- If your labels do not match this size, you can try to skip this step or contact Zebra support to determine the command you would need.
- Finally, enter "U" and press Send. This will print a configuration label.
If you press the feed button and 3 labels come out, that is a sign it needs to be reset.
Read all instructions thoroughly before trying to re-calibrate the printer.
- Hold down the feed button. You will see it begin to flash, and you will need to count through these flashes.
- The light will flash in series of progressive flashes:
- One
- One Two
- One Two Three
- One Two Three Four
- One Two Three Four Five
- One Two Three Four Five Six
- One Two Three Four Five Six Seven
- Wait until you see the group of seven (7) progressive flashes.
- Release the button.
- The printer will start to feed media and print a series of EKG type labels.
- Once its completely finished, tap the feed button once again. This will feed one blank label and will return the printer to regular operational mode.
- Try printing again.
