Metal Values for Jewelry Estimator

Learn how metal values are set and managed in Bravo’s Jewelry Estimator to ensure accurate assessments based on current market rates.

This article will help you set precious metal values for your shop. In Bravo, values depend on metal purity and market percentage. Bravo’s Estimator updates precious metal prices four times daily, but you can choose your own update frequency.

In the pawn industry, the hold period is crucial for deciding when to update prices. You can adopt various strategies for updates, but ultimately, you can adjust prices as needed based on your store's policies.

The values configured here drive the values in the Jewelry Estimator.
  • To configure these settings, click on System Configuration from the Bravo Dashboard.
  • Select the Estimator Tab then, select the tab labeled Metals.

Screen Layout

The Metals tab has two distinct sections:

  • Header with information that you can view and change.
  • Metals table where you set prices and define other metals.

HEADER

The header displays the following information:

  • Price to Retail Markup displays the markup percentage from the Price listed in the Metals table and what a typical retail price might be.
  • Current Market Values are listed as of date of the last market trade.  The last trade date will show the most recent update to these values.  This does not automatically affect your prices.
Current Market Values are updated 4 times a day: 1200, 1500, 1800, 2100 all GMT
  • Value per [unit of measure].  Unit of measure is selected on the Configuration tab, either grams or pennyweights.
  • Last Updated is the date the table was last updated by you, also set to Automatic Update Daily.
  • Set Values button. Allows values to be set based on a percentage of the market and will set prices based on the last trade values in Bravo.

METALS TABLE

The metals tab displays the following information:

  • Type - Displays Gold, Silver, Platinum, or Other.
  • Purity - Displays the metal purity or other metal (Titanium, Tungsten, Stainless, Copper)
  • Market - Last updated Market Value per unit of measure.
  • Price - What the store will typically sell each unit of measure for based on Type and Purity.
  • Pawn - Value per unit of Measure for Pawns.
  • Buy - Value per unit of Measure for Buys.

Change the Metal Table

To change the values on the Metal table, click the Edit button  at the top.

In the Price to Retail field, type a new value or use the up and down arrows.

How to use static values for metals

If your store uses static values for metals, you will want to update each line individually without choosing the Set Values button.

To edit individual lines or metal types, you can change each line.

Note that the lines are read-only when precious metals values in your store are calculated automatically as the configured percentage of spot price. In order to change this, uncheck the Automatic Updates Daily checkbox inside the Set values as percentage of market dialog.

To change the columns  for Price, Pawn and Buy:

  • Under Price, enter the price to charge per unit of measure based on the metal type and purity.
  • Under Pawn, enter the amount to pay out on loans per unit of measure based on the metal type and purity.
  • Under Buy, enter the amount to pay out on buys per unit of measure based on the metal type and purity.
  • Click Save.

How to use current market values for metals

Metal values are updated in Bravo four times a day. The times listed are UTC.
  • 1200
  • 1500
  • 1800
  • 2100

If your store bases prices on the current market, you will want to go set your values by clicking the Set Values button.

NOTE - Using SET VALUES will overwrite any previously entered custom values.

1. The top line represents what the value percentages WILL be once updated.

2. The bottom line represents where your current values are based on the last market trade.

  • Price is your mark up from the current market value to your store prices.
  • Pawn is the percentage of the current market value that you would typically loan.
  • Buy is the percentage of the current market value that you would typically pay out on a buy ticket.

Set these percentages as necessary, and click Ok

Clicking OK will update your values to be in line with the last market trade. If you want the values to stay automatically updated, make sure that the Automatic Update Daily - Metals checkbox is checked!
