NICS eCheck

Learn how to access and use the NICS eCheck website during a firearm transaction in Bravo to run a background check, including login instructions and helpful links.

For stores that use the FBI NICS E-Check website for background checks. E4473 provides one more layer of protection and accuracy. The E4473 NICS eCheck feature automatically fills in information gathered from the E4473 form on to the FBI NICS E-Check website. This will speed up background checks and lower user error.

How to get it:

Sign up for E4473 with digital storage. NICS eCheck will be included in the package.

Concerns & Considerations:

NICS eCheck requires the Chrome browser installed and running and the NICS eCheck Chrome extension. Chrome does not have to be the default browser, but Chrome is required to perform the NICS eCheck function. The extension will auto update whenever a new extension is available.

Click the Extension in the screen

 

Click "Add to Chrome" on the top right

 

There will be a pop-up for Add "Bravo & E4473 auto eNICS background check. Click "Add extension"

 

Now go to the Extensions Page by clicking the Puzzle Piece icon if you see it and choose Manage Extensions. Or click the 3 ellipses, choose More Tools and then click Extensions.

 

From here click Details on the Bravo extension.

 

And finally check the Allow Access to file URLs box.

NICS eCheck does have a security bit to allow greater control of who can run the background check

Main Menu > Transactions > NICS eCheck

 

Best use and steps:

Using E4473, make sure you are at the start of E4473 NICS Processing. Section B of the 4473 has been confirmed and you are ready to perform the background check.

 

Open the chrome browser and login to the FBI NICS eCheck website.

 

Return to Bravo and click the NICS eCheck button.

 

Bravo will open a new tab to the FBI NICS E-Check web site. On this new tab click “Submit a Search Request”.

 

This will automatically fill in all the required information from the E4473 form. Click Continue to progress to the next page.

First page “Subject Data”:

Third page “Additional Info”:

 

Finally verify and submit the background check.

Responses from NICS will need to be manually entered into the E4473 NICS Processing screen.
