Range Management and Setup

Learn how to set up and manage Bravo's Range Management feature, including configuring range lanes, assigning rentals, and tracking usage.

What is Range Management

Range Management simplifies operations for shooting range owners, handling everything from bookings to firearm rentals. Since Range Management is entirely integrated in Bravo POS system, you can:

  • Use current Bravo customer profiles for range bookings or create new ones for other type transactions as as well.
  • Utilize any of your store firearm inventory for rentals.
  • Use any non-serialized SKU inventory for sales directly from Range Management screen.
  • Take Advantage of automated time tracking.
  • Leverage the ticket status panel to simplify customer check-in and lane assignments.
  • Use range-specific reporting to get more insights into daily range operations.

Who will have access to this product

Starting January 21, 2025, Range Management will be available in the Bravo production environment for companies and stores that purchase it. This release allows Bravo customers to manage daily shooting range operations, track rentals.

Configuring Lane Bays & Lanes

To set up Lane Bays and Lanes follow the steps below or watch a video clip to do this, here .

  • Go to System Configuration > the Range Management tab.

Start by creating a Lane Bay.

  • Click the Edit button first to enable editing.
  • Click Add to add a new Lane Bay. Enter a name and click Save.

Note that checkbox for the Active column is checked by default.

After creating the Lane Bay, it's time to create Lanes inside it. To do this:

  • Go to the Lanes tab,
  • Select the type of Bay - Demo Bay, Indoor Bay, Outdoor Bay from Bay drop-down list
  • Click Edit to enable editing
  • Click Add to create a new Lane
  • Enter name for the new Lane and click Save to save your changes.

After creating the Lane, it will be displayed under the corresponding Bay tab on Range Management Screen.

Configuring Minors

Range V1 supports assigning minors (underage participants) for a customer inside a range ticket. It is possible to configure the following:

 

  • Minimum age for a minor - Set at 12 years by default
  • Maximum age  for a minor - Set at 17 years by default
  • Maximum number of minors per customer - Set according to local laws and store policies.

Fees

After configuring Lane Bays and Lanes, the Range Specific fees need to be configured. Range Management supports two types of fees, Duration fee and Rental Fee.

  • Duration fee – this fee type is mandatory* for operating Range Management. Fees of this type contain “Duration” time in minutes, which is then used in Range Management to indicate how much time a customer will stay on the lane.

Alert - You need to set up at least one Duration Fee to be able to operate Range Management

  • Rental fee – this works the same way as other Services & Fees in Bravo.

To configure range specific fees, go to System Configuration > Transaction > Services and Fees.

On the Services and Fees tab, select Range Duration from Fee Type drop-down.

To create a new duration fee, click the Edit button and Add. Select the Fee Type, in this case select Range Duration.

The View Service /Fee screen will open.

  • Enter a Name
  • Default Mount
  • General Ledger
  • Tax Group
  • Duration in minutes

Same process applies to adding a Rental Fee (see screenshot below).

After saving, Duration and Rentals fees will be available inside Fees & Packages dialogue. To access this dialogue, simply click Fees & Packages button on Range Management screen.

Note the two tabs, Duration Fees and Rental Fees will show all previously configured fees.

Configuring Rentals

After configuring Lane Bays, Lanes and Fees, you can also configure rental firearms (Rentals).

Configuring rental firearms is optional, however, it is highly recommended to do this to get the most out of Range Management functionality.

 

 

 

Configuring Firearms for Rentals

  • From the Dashboard, go to the right side menu and click on Inventory > Ad Hoc Reporting
  • Click on Add New Criteria and select > Status then set Status to Inventory
  • Click on Add New Criteria again and select  > Category and set category to any A&D gun book relevant category (e.g. Pistol, Shotgun) and click Ok to run the report.
  • Select  a Firearm from the list and click on Edit Item on lower left corner of screen
  • Note - For items with Source=SKU, you need to click on the Remove from SKU button to be able to select the firearm for Rental. To watch a video clip on designating a SKU's Firearm for rental, click here .
  • On the Edit Item screen, check Rental checkbox and enter required Rental Price and click Next.
  • After this, this item status is changed to Rental on the Inventory screen.
  • Once the item is in Rental status, it can be selected for rental in Range Management
