An item that was split needs to be put back together. This article will show you how to accomplish that task.
First, you will need to know the original inventory item. From there, look at the history and determine when the item got split. I have split a diamond solitaire ring into a loose diamond and an empty socketed ring.
In the Item History for my item here I see that it got a price and cost change soon after it was created.
To me, this means a cost adjustment was made for some reason. So now I'm going to go to the Cost Adjustment report and find what I can. I know the Cost Adjustment took place on 1/7/2020 and that's what I'm going to run my report for.
To run the Cost Adjustment report, head to the Dashboard and click on Reports on the bottom right side.
Now click on the Cost Adjustment report under the Inventory Reports section. And then select Preview on the top right.
In the pop-up I'm going to make sure the Reporting dates are only what I found in my Item History earlier. And I'm also going to make sure I am Including Detail, then click Ok to run the report.
In the report, I can see that at the same time my Inventory # MAX016388 from earlier received a cost adjustment, so did an item numbered MAX016389. The Action also describes that this item was split from our original item MAX016388.
So, now we are going to take this new Item number we found and go back to the Inventory section and bring it up. Once you have done that, ensure the item is highlighted and an option for Recombine Item will be seen on the right hand side of the screen. Or, you can right click on the highlighted item and select it from the list there as well.
In the window that appears, you have to highlight the item that it was split from and click Save.
Now the original item has an updated cost! You have successfully recombined an item!
