Learn how to set up Fortis, including required credentials, configuration steps, and where to input merchant details.

Last Updated:  2/27/2025

To set up Fortis for stores, the owner must first create a Fortis account. Then, inform Fortis you will be using Bravo and MobilePawn. Fortis will provide an API Key. If you already have the API Key, proceed to the Setup section.

Instructions

  • You can begin by contacting Fortis through the link or by phone or email below:

Fortis + Bravo Store Systems

FORTIS
Phone: (772) 360-4646
Email: support-fl@fortispay.com

Fortis will batch out at 8:30 PM EST. If your store closes later, please inform Fortis to adjust your batch out time.

Setup

Once you receive the API Key from Fortis, this key needs to be entered in Bravo. Follow these steps:

  • From the Dashboard, select System Configuration > Configuration Tab > Payment Processors > FORTIS
  • Click Edit at the top of the page then click the pencil icon for Fortis API Key
  • The Fortis Registration window opens, enter the Fortis API Key here.
  • Simply type in the API Key that Fortis has given you:
  • Then hit Verify. If the verification succeeded you will see this pop up. What shows is information that the store gave to Fortis so we can verify we added it correctly.
  • If you enter the API Key incorrectly , the system will show this error:
  • If you enter the API Key incorrectly, you'll see this warning:
  • If you received either of these errors please make sure that you are copying the entire API string (including the "api_"). If that still doesn't work, contact Fortis for support.
To use the API Key, Bravo must contact Fortis to initiate their setup process. Without this, payments made on Buya or MobilePawn may not appear in your bank account the following day.
  • If you added the API Key correctly you can hit Ok to save it.
  • Hit Save on the top left of Bravo.

- This store now has the API Key implemented. Now, when you look at the Fortis processor you will see the API Key.

- Standard industry practice with credit cards as of 2020 no longer require a signature with a Credit card transaction.

- Bravo made it so that on the Fortis terminal that your customers use to insert/swipe their card, you can choose whether you want them to sign on Credit sales/payments.

  • From the Dashboard, select System Configuration > Configuration Tab > Payment Processors > FORTIS
  • Click Edit on the top of Bravo and then check the box next to where it says "Require signature on terminal".

If you want to clean your Fortis device please consult with Fortis. Do NOT by any means use an alcohol swab to clean the device, this will cause the touch screen to no longer function.
