Split Items - Edit Cost

Learn how to edit the cost of items when splitting inventory in Bravo, ensuring accurate valuation and inventory tracking.

Last Updated:  3/28/2025

When splitting items, Bravo will automatically distribute the cost evenly among the items during the split process. If you need to redistribute the cost of each item, you can choose to edit the cost of the individual split items.

To learn about how to split items, please see the article located Split Items.

Instructions

  • In this example, we begin with an item that has $100.00 cost.
  • In order to complete the split with a total of four items, you will want to copy the item three times.
  • Bravo evenly divides the total cost among four items, maintaining the original sum.cost during the split process. It also distributes costs based on each item's estimated sale price.
  • While automatic cost distribution works well, unique items may need manual adjustments. Click on the item's cost to edit it, and Bravo will re-calibrate the other items' costs to match the original total.
  • In the example below, the last two items' costs were changed from $25.00 to $10.00 each. Edited costs appear in blue.

  • The two items that were not edited are still in black font and their cost was automatically edited to be $40.00 each, maintaining the sum total of $100 that we started with.
  • You can edit the cost of each item. If not manually set, the system will adjust the cost to keep the total unchanged.
  • Manually set item costs, but ensure the total is accurate before confirming changes.
  • Notice that if the cost on all items is adjusted to $10.00 with a total cost of $40.00, Bravo will not allow the split to be saved.
  • The total cost of all the items must equal the total cost of the original item.
  • You will need to readjust the cost on each item until the total is correct.

If the cost on the original item was incorrect, you will want to edit this cost before you split the item.
