Till Type Descriptions

You will learn the different till types in Bravo, such as Store Safe, Till, and Bank, and how each is used to manage cash and tender in your store.

We will cover the different types of tills available in Bravo since they play an important role in the day to day operations of a store and good understanding of their function will lead to successful transactions and reporting.

So, before a transaction is done in Bravo a till must be open. The system keeps track of what is expected in each cash drawer at the end of the day based on which till an employee connects to while doing transactions. Bravo offers four different types; General, Global, Employee Global and Main Drawer.

General Till

A general till can only be used by one employee at one workstation at a time. This is usually used by stores where every employee has their own cash drawer and do transactions from just one workstation all day. Once a general till has been open for the day, nobody else can connect to it until that initial employee closes it, not even the same employee from a different workstation. This option offers a high level of accountability since only one employee is handling the cash in a particular drawer.

Global Till

A global till lets multiple associates access the same cash drawer simultaneously. Small pawnshops often have just one drawer, making a global till a good choice. Employees can connect to the till at different workstations during the day, but must click “Open Till” at each one. At day's end, they must also click “Close Till” at every workstation. Multiple employees can access the same global till, which reduces accountability since several people handle the cash.

With a global till, only the first person to open it counts the money and other non-cash tenders. Subsequent employees just disconnect from it without counting any tenders.

At the end of the night, all employees simply disconnect from a global till except the last person. This last employee is responsible for counting out the cash drawer and recording any overages or shortages.

Employee Global Till

An Employee Global Till combines a general till and a global till, enabling employees to use various workstations without opening a new till each time. This is ideal for stores where each employee has their own cash drawer but works at different stations throughout the day.

Only one employee can use an Employee Global Till at a time; they cannot be shared among multiple employees simultaneously.

If using an Employee Global Till, an employee can log into any workstation and access the till without clicking "Open Till." At the end of the day, closing the till on one workstation will automatically close it on all workstations used that day.

Main Drawer

A Main Drawer till configuration combines a global till with an employee global till, allowing stores to operate from a single till without keeping cash in the safe.

To allow switching between this configuration and the others mentioned, a store safe is still opened and closed, but Bravo automatically handles transfers in and out of the safe behind the scenes.

Whenever the store is open with a Main Drawer, all employees automatically connect to the Main Drawer as they sign in or resume their sessions. They can move around the store and use different workstations all while operating out of the same store-wide till.

When configuring a store with a Main Drawer, certain requirements must be met. The following validation rules ensure only one Main Drawer can be activated:

  •  Status for all other tills aside from the Main Drawer must be set to INACTIVE REPOSITORY.
  • To change from another till Type to a Main Drawer, the store must be closed with $0.00 in the store safe.
  • You cannot have more than one active Main Drawer till.

Till Configuration

Till configuration is done through System Configuration > Transaction tab > Tills tab

NOTE: To be able to edit and change to a different till type, the selected till status must show as CLOSED REPOSITORY.

In stores with multiple tills, different types can be used together; they don't have to be the same.
