Trade Show Mode
Learn how to activate and use Trade Show Mode in Bravo to sell items offsite while keeping taxes, inventory, and reporting accurate for each event.
Bravo's Trade Show Mode feature allows you to take a workstation to a trade show and make sales according to the sales tax rate in the trade show location. In the case of gun shows, Trade Show Mode also provides the convenience of auto-filling gun show information on the E4473.
Security Bit for Enabling Trade Show Mode
The Trade Show Mode security bit located under Main Menu > System Configuration > Workstations can be set to Allowed or Not Allowed to grant permission on a per-employee basis for enabling a workstation in Trade Show Mode. If an employee does not have permission for Trade Show Mode , then they will not see the Trade Show button on the workstation in System Configuration.
How to enable Trade Show Mode on a Workstation
Enable trade show mode on a workstation by selecting Edit on the Workstation Information tab in System Configuration, then select Trade Show. The Trade Show Workstation Configuration dialog will appear. Check the Enable Trade Show Mode checkbox.
Type the Trade Show/Event Name. Select the New option if you are creating a new trade show, or select an existing trade show from the auto-filled list of existing trade shows. If you are setting up more than one workstation at the same trade show, create the trade show when enabling the feature on the first workstation, then select the existing trade show when enabling the other workstations.
Enter the Zip Code of the trade show, which will automatically select the City, State, and County. If more than one city is associated with the Zip Code and you need to select an alternate city, select the Alternate button that appears next to the City field.
Bravo will automatically select the Tax Authority that is most localized for the trade show location. It will check first for a tax authority at the city level, then the county level, then the state level. If no tax authority exists for the given location, you will not be able to set tax rates and save the trade show.
Set Tax % and Tax Method for each tax group on the Rates tab. The receipt Identifier and Sum on Receipt options on the Receipt tab will automatically populate based on the most localized tax authority in the store's list of Configured Tax Authorities.
Transactions in Trade Show Mode
When Trade Show Mode is enabled on a workstation, any employee who performs a transaction on that workstation will notice the name of the trade show displayed in the screen header on the Transactions screen and the Tender Screen. The trade show name will also be displayed at the top of the receipt. Any taxable sales made in Trade Show Mode will have tax calculated according to the configured tax rates for the show.
Firearm Sales in at Gun Shows
Sale of firearms at gun shows are supported by Trade Show Mode, will be handled the same as they are normally handled for in-store sales, except that tax calculation could be based either on the trade show location or the store location, depending on specific scenarios described below. If your store is configured for Pay Up Front hold sales, then the customer will pay for the firearm during the hold sale transaction at the trade show. If the store is configured for Pay At Pickup, then customers will pay for the firearms during the Sale Pickup transaction. For more information, see Firearm Hold Sales - Pay At Pickup.
A note for out-of-state gun shows: Because FFL licensees may only display and take orders for firearms at an out-of-state gun show (www.atf.gov), you should add a 3rd Party Customer with an FFL to the sale transaction, then select Hold Items on the FFL Processing screen. This will allow you to collect payment for the sale up front, regardless of your store configuration. When you return from the gun show and ship the firearms to the 3rd Party Customer, you can bring the item back up and select Release Items to properly dispose them out of your ATF A&D Book.
E4473 with Trade Shows
When an E4473 is created for a Hold Sale transaction that occurred at a gun show, Bravo will automatically copy the show/event name and address from your trade show configuration to the gun show information section (Question 25) on the E4473. You can view and edit this information on the E4473 by selecting the Gun Show button on the E4473 Start screen.
Disable Trade Show Mode
When a trade show is over and you want to exit Trade Show Mode on the workstation, go to System Configuration, select the workstation, select Edit, then select Trade Show. The Trade Show Workstation Configuration dialog will appear. Uncheck the Enable Trade Show Mode checkbox and save your changes.
