Void a Transaction

Learn how to void transactions in Bravo, including access steps, permissions, and what voiding a transaction affects.

To void a transaction, use Bravo's Void/View Transactions feature. This article will walk you through the process of voiding a transaction.

TRANSACTIONS CAN ONLY BE VOIDED ON THE SAME BUSINESS DAY. ONCE THE STORE CLOSES, TRANSACTIONS FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY CANNOT BE VOIDED.

Instructions

  • Start by selecting Void/View Transactions from the Bravo Dashboard
  • Select the transaction that you need to Void

You can use the transaction number on the receipt. If you don't have it, you can refine your search by date/time and the associate who handled the transaction.

  • Select a transaction to VOID and click View.
  • Verify you have the correct transaction and click Next.
  • Select Void Transaction from the right. 
  • Voiding a transaction requires a Manager's approval so an Exception window will pop up.

 

  • If you have the access to void a transaction, enter your username and password. Otherwise, seek manager approval.
  • A confirmation window appears stating, "Transaction will be voided when Save is selected".
  • Click Save on the right..

Once a transaction is voided, back in the Void/View Transactions screen, the transaction selected to void will have the the box for VOID, checked, Also, a new transaction line will appear with the Type of Void.

 

If you were to click on the void line and attempt to view it, you will see the following pop-up:

IMPORTANT:  TRANSACTIONS CAN ONLY BE VOIDED ON THE SAME BUSINESS DAY THAT THEY WERE COMPLETED.  ONCE THE TILL IS CLOSED, YOU CAN NO LONGER VOID THE TRANSACTION.

If you attempt to void a transaction after a till has been closed or a transaction from a previous business date, you will get the following error:

    Note: You are able to void the till and or safe closings and then void the transaction needed. However, if you closed the till and then reopened the till, you will not be able to void that transaction again.
