SMS Courtesy Reminders

You will learn how to send SMS Courtesy Reminders in Bravo to notify customers about upcoming payments, due dates, and important account activity.

Sometimes your customers need a gentle reminder that their loans are coming due. Instead of sending a loan notice SMS or printout after a loan's Due Date, Bravo's SMS Courtesy Reminders allow you to send personalized SMS messages at any point in a loan's lifespan. System Configuration: Employee Security and Notice Templates

In order to send SMS Courtesy Reminders, the store must first be subscribed to Bravo's SMS Text Messaging add-on. If your store isn't already subscribed, click here to have an authorized agent of the company approve subscription so a Bravo support agent can set you up.

Once you have access to the SMS Text Messaging add-on, make sure to configure your employee security settings so only trusted employees can send SMS Courtesy Reminders to your customers. For anyone not approved to send these reminders, disable the SMS Text Message Integration employee security bit.

Now you're ready to configure your SMS Courtesy Reminder content using the templates located under
System Configuration > Configuration tab > TEXT MESSAGING CONFIG.

There are two configurable templates for SMS Courtesy Reminders:

  • The Single Loan Courtesy Reminder SMS Template, will be used when only one loan among the selected loans belongs to a customer.
  • The Multiple Loan Courtesy Reminder SMS Template, will be used when more than one loan among the selected loans belongs to the same customer. This second template is used to reduce the number of text messages you send to a single customer.

In each template configuration, you will have the ability to include personalized references to your customers and the details of their specific loans receiving reminders. The following references appear in both the Single Loan Courtesy Reminder SMS Template and the Multiple Loan Courtesy Reminder Template:

  • Customer.FirstName - The customer's first name
  • Customer.LastName - The customer's last name
  • Store.Name - The name of your store
  • Store.Phone - Your store's phone number
  • Store.PrintCode - Your store's three-letter store code

The following references are uniquely used for the Single Loan Courtesy Reminder SMS Template:

  • Loan.ExtensionMinAmount - The minimum amount required to perform an extension on the loan
  • Loan.ExtensionMinDays - The minimum number of extension days that the loan can receive
  • Ticket.ExpirationDate - The loan's Due Date
  • Ticket.PayoffAmount - The amount required to redeem the loan today
  • Ticket.PrintNumber - The loan number
  • Ticket.PullDate - The day on which you will be able to expire the loan and price it into your inventory
  • Ticket.RenewalAmount - The amount required to pay off and renew the loan

Below is the default text for single-loan courtesy reminders:

The following references are uniquely used for the Multiple Loan Courtesy Reminder SMS Template:

  • Ticket.TotalPayoffAmount - The amount required to redeem all of the customer's selected loans
  • Ticket.TotalRenewalAmount - The amount required to pay off and renew all of the customer's selected loans

Below is the default text for multiple-loan courtesy reminders:

Configure these templates to include whatever information you believe is most important for your customer to know when they receive their SMS Courtesy Reminder.

Generating a List of Loans to Receive Courtesy Reminders

You can send an SMS Courtesy Reminder to any eligible active loan that you select within Loan/Buy Management, but you may want to develop a store process of when and how often to send reminders. The best way to do this is with an Ad Hoc Report. A good example would be to send a reminder to all loans that will be due in five days or less. To set this up, add these criteria to your Ad Hoc Report:

  • [Active Loans and Buys] (checked)
  • [Ticket Kind] [=] [LOAN]
  • [Due Date] [range] [(today's date)] [(today's date plus five days)]

If you're running this every day, may end up sending an SMS Courtesy Reminder to the same customer for the same loans every day until they either come in or until the loan's Due Date passes. If you want to send less reminders to the same customer, pull in the Last Courtesy SMS Date column from the Column Chooser and use the column filter to Select All, then deselect all dates from five days before today's date to today's date. This Last Courtesy SMS Date field updates as soon as you queue up an SMS Courtesy Reminder to be sent and save your changes.

There are many other ways to search for loans that will receive an SMS Courtesy Reminder. Explore the Ad Hoc Reporting criteria yourself and find the best configuration that works for you and your store. Once you are satisfied with a configuration, or even more than one, make sure to save them so you can easily run the report as often as you like.

Queuing and Sending SMS Courtesy Reminders

Sending SMS Courtesy Reminders is simple! Simply select eligible loans in Loan/Buy Management. Use the Shift and/or Ctrl keys on your keyboard to select multiple loans. Then select Create SMS Courtesy Reminder on the right panel to queue up your messages. You can also right-click one of the selected loans and select Create SMS Courtesy Reminder from its context menu. Once the messages are queued, you can preview them by clicking on the SMS balloon icon that appears over each selected loan. When you are ready to send out the queued messages, select the Save button in the upper-right corner.

Reviewing SMS Courtesy Reminders Previously Sent Out

If you want to check and see if you actually sent an SMS Courtesy Reminder to a specific customer regarding a specific loan, simply locate that customer's profile and view their Contact History. Here, you can filter by ticket number to check on a single loan's contact history, or simply filter by Comments to see which loans received a "Courtesy Notice Sent"
